This month we thought we would continue with our recent trend of local pub lunches (some would say any excuse for a pint).
We opted for a visit to one of our highstreet’s most popular pubs ‘The Three Fiddles’, which has recently undergone some external upgrading, adding a large covered area out back.
Operated by Landlord Aran Colbert (Interesting fact: Aran is one of the only ‘landlords’ in the traditional sense remaining in town)
We had in our mind we wanted to get breakfast… and after a lot of recommendations from friends this visit was a no brainer.
I think it’s worth mentioning that we arrived just after lunchtime and the pub was already serving its main meals for the day… however they were more than accommodating in still providing us with breakfast.
Upon arrival we signed our track and trace, sanitised and were shown to a table from a lovely member of staff.
We opted for coffee and a soft drink. It’s also worth noting that the coffee was REALLY good! Not sure what I expected, probably as my usual order is a pint. But the quality of the coffee was great.
Now to the breakfast itself…
Portion was great, not a greedy man’s breakfast but certainly not a kids portion. All the staples you’d expect from a good fry up; quality sausages, hash brown, mushrooms and black pudding. Eggs were cooked perfectly. If I had to be picky I’d say a breakfast should come with toast not fried bread (am I opening up a debate here?). However I didn’t ask so it’s not a case of me not getting what I wanted.
Overall a great visit. No complaints at all, the venue was clean, safe and welcoming. Staff were amazing and accommodating, making sure everything was okay and as always just good quality food and drink!
If you haven’t tried the food over at the Three Fiddles you need to! Support local, support landlords and spend time with friends and loved ones again.
